JOMUN
XII Reflection 9 – 26 – 14
On Friday, September 26, 2014 the
first day of the JOMUN XII Conference began. I began taking notes on the
opening speeches of the general assembly 3 (GA3). GA3 topics that were
discussed included a range of education, health care, and preserving
traditional languages and cultures in African countries. Then, I synthesized my
notes to produce a well though article on the happenings in the general
assembly 3.
My specific learning moment is that
it is very important to take detailed notes to write a well-organized article
supporting the information that was stated in the general assembly 3. The
ethical implications explored throughout the opening speeches were providing
free public K – 12 education, health care centers, and preserving traditional
languages and cultures in African countries. By overviewing these topics and
creating awareness of the needs of these African countries in the 21st
century, we as the Johannesburg Model United Nations are engaging in issues of
global importance. My commitment and perseverance to this creative activity was
displayed during the writing of my articles and my collaboration with the Press
Team.
Some of the challenges I experienced
were the long hours of debating and hashing out issues to observe and obtain a
summary of the collected information to write an article. I can relate these
long hours and necessity for commitment to last year’s JOMUN XI, as it required
the same amount of energy and time input to be successful. No problems arose
during Friday’s conference. The immediate future goals are already set for
Saturday’s conference, as the schedule has been made and will be adhered to.
