AISJ Track and Field Senior Team IB/CAS Proposal

IB/CAS Proposal

Candidate Name: Enya Calibuso

Activity/Project: AISJ Track and Field Senior Team

Date: 5 September 2013

Intro: I chose to join AISJ track and field senior team because; I’ve always had an interest in track. This has given me the opportunity to fulfill my track goal. My skill level is a beginner/novice. My talent is sprinting short distance.

Targeted Learning Outcomes:
I have awareness of both my strengths and my weaknesses. My strength is sprinting the 100-meter race. My weakness is long distance running. I need to improve my endurance, stamina, and breathing techniques. Learning my own pace will improve my stamina, while endurance will need continuous training. I will practice my breathing techniques by deep breathing from my core and exhaling through my mouth for increased oxygen intake. Joining the track and field senior team at AISJ is my new challenge. This is my first time taking a school sport. I am committed to attending every track and field training and meet. This will ensure improvement in my overall performance and health.

This activity would complete my Action section of CAS.

Activity Description:
I plan to train with the other students in the AISJ Track and Field Senior Team for its duration from August to October 2013. The warm-up every training day consists of two laps around the field and dynamic stretching. Then, specific training and instructions from the coach on short distance sprinting are given and followed. The coach times our progress and allows us to rehydrate at the end of the run. My role is a sprint runner for the track team. I am responsible for training and preparing for the 100-meter race.

End:
I am able to stretch myself beyond what I perceive as my limits, because of the rigorous IB workload along with extracurricular activities. This is not a sure thing; I do have to learn to cope with downfalls that have Real World Consequences, because nothing’s perfect. I learn by my mistakes. As long as I know that I’ve done my best during my training, and put my all during the race I feel that justifies my failure to win. I will be a positive role model that fosters civic responsibility, by displaying an open and optimistic attitude. I will help in all aspects that are needed. Such as: returning equipment to the storage room.
